The Burnside Burners

The Burnside Burners perform as a six piece blues band. Formed after the closure of

The Edinburgh Blues Academy in 2023 ( a community music initiative run by the

Edinburgh Jazz & Blues Festival designed to help musicians of all ages and abilities

develop their blues playing and group performance skills. ) Although there are 8 full

time members of the band they are more a collective, switching members for

different numbers. This gives the band a unique depth and breadth of sounds and styles rooted in the blues.

Performing a selection of music from the huge legacy left by the blues greats such as Robert Johnson, BB King, Ray Charles, Freddy King, Howlin Wolf, Muddy Waters to name a few, up to more modern artists such as Peter Green, Eric Clapton, The Allman Brothers, ZZ Top and more.

The band name was inspired by R L Burnside an influential Mississippi musician. Playing gigs around central Scotland, the band regularly plays Bannermans, The Voodoo Rooms, Stramash, The Howlin Wolf bar and The Firestation Creative to appreciative crowds.
