A Canorous Quintet in Reykjavik, Iceland for the first time at Dillon.

30 years after the release of classic, now cult release, ”Silence Of The World Beyond” A Canorous Quintet now bring an unique opportunity to experience one of the founders of Swedish Melodic Death Metal! Performing the classic 1996 album in its entirety, along with other tracks from their catalogue in Iceland for the first time!

A Canorous Quintet was formed in 1991 under the original name A Canorous Quartet. In 1993, after some line-up changes, the band became A Canorous Quintet (ACQ). Shortly after, ACQ recorded their first official demo The Time of Autumn. With this release, the band began to shape their sound and direction. The demo gained attention, and ACQ soon became a respected live act, sharing stages with Edge of Sanity, At the Gates, Katatonia, Dissection, Disharmonic Orchestra, Hypocrisy, and others. An untitled promo tape was also recorded, but the sound quality did not meet expectations and it was shelved. Determined to move forward, the band entered the legendary Unisound Studio with producer Dan Swanö. The result was the As Tears EP, released by Chaos Records, which marked a turning point in ACQ’s evolution. By 1995 the band had written their first full-length album, Silence of the World Beyond. This time ACQ chose to record with Peter Tägtgren at Abyss Studio, creating a unique take on melodic black/death metal. The album was released by No Fashion Records in 1996, earning great reviews and solidifying ACQ’s place in the underground scene. In 1997 ACQ recorded their second album, The Only Pure Hate, at Studio Sunlight. Despite strong songs and performances, the production failed to capture the intended power and atmosphere. Released in 1998, the album was followed by tour offers, but without proper support and with growing tensions in the band, ACQ decided to disband.
